An enlightening report by the NAO report shows that although some organisations are improving services and generating financial benefits; there is far more work to be done.
In the last six years a quarter of value-for-money studies made by the National Audit Office made
recommendations relating to four themes which echo those embedded in the ICiPS standards of professional practice.
1. Having a customer focus.
2. Managing from a whole system, end-to-end perspective.
3. Building an effective management and leadership environment.
4. Using information to improve the business.
NAO suggest that establishing maturity in these four areas will help government achieve value for money.
