Last week Debbie Simpson CEO of ICiPS chaired a continuous improvement event in Manchester.
The day commenced with a key note speech delivered by Lord Bichard who shared his thoughts on the need for the civil service to do better and the importance of changing organisational culture. His key recommendations included - building teams and organisations to innovate; engaging the front line in everything; understanding and designing services around the customer; collaboration to improve quality of outcomes; seeking good practice; engaged leadership.
ICiPS CEO Debbie Simpson explains ‘I was delighted to hear Lord Bichards’ thoughts. He portrayed a straightforward and common sense approach to change which resonates with the key priorities of ICiPS’.
During the day delegates heard from other renowned speakers on the theory and practice of continuous improvement including Professor Elena Antonacopoulou from the GNOSIS program at the University of Liverpool Management School who talked about the benefits of practicing ‘impactful leadership’. Delegates also had the opportunity to join a choice of plenary sessions.
Reflecting on the day Debbie said ‘There was a real buzz throughout the day and we have had extremely positive feedback. The subjects covered were diverse and everyone seems to have taken learning and ideas from the day that can help them in their workplace, making their attendance a worthwhile investment of time and money.’
