Job summary and Responsibilities

We are looking for continuous improvement professionals who are at the top of their game, passionate about developing modern, business-focused solutions, and who aren’t afraid to try something new. The challenge we have at Essex County Council is massive, the opportunity is even bigger. This is your chance to bring new and modern ways of doing things to one of the biggest county councils in the country, where you will be encouraged to share your ideas, experience and be at the heart of creating and delivering best fit solutions.

If the idea of being part of a team who is making a real difference to public service, and to the lives of the residents of Essex, appeals to you – then this is the place for you. You may currently be working in local government, the wider public sector or in the private sector but looking to showcase your skills on a larger stage and focused on business performance which has a real impact on people’s lives.

The opportunity
As a Continuous Improvement Practitioner, you will take an active role in the delivery of projects. Working collaboratively within the Organisation Development & People function, you will lead on Lean Six Sigma projects and other business improvement initiatives across the organisation. As a consultant, you will analyse and be able to define what is needed in each situation, help to embed changes within the organisation, and offer advice and guidance to ensure these changes are sustained. Nurturing relationships with other teams and external partners, you will drive and embed a continuous improvement culture across the Council, maximising effectiveness and improving customer experience.

Knowledge, skills and experience

About you
Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience, you will be a Lean Six Sigma practitioner certified to Green Belt level with strong experience in delivering projects in challenging environments. With an analytical mindset, you will be comfortable managing a demanding and diverse workload. You will have a keen understanding of a variety of change management tools and techniques and keep up-to-date with current technologies. If you come from a change management background this would also be beneficial.
